This superb 4 3/4 inch (closed) knife is the perfect reflection of the quality workmanship and materials that have made Laguiole famous. The mirror polished clip blade, forged from 12C27 Sandvik steel, doesn't close until you close it with a substantial press down.The Laguiole name means excellence and heirloom quality. A single craftsman works on each knife, and the particular handworked design on the spring tells you which craftsman made it...According to legend, Napoleon was on his way to a campaign and stopped in the village of Laguiole. The shepherds were so honored with his visit they offered one knife to each of his marshals. Napoleon then authorized them to put the Imperial Bee at the junction between the spring and the blade. (See Inset) The back of the spring of the knife is even carefully fileworked with a beautiful design. The 4 inch single blade is made with stainless steel. Brass bolsters and liner complete this fine folder. Shown with Fossil Walrus Ivory and scrimshawed thistle. This little treasure will stun your senses - A perfect knife for your pocket or purse! You also have your choice of any of our superb ivories and colors, as well as a scrimshaw etching as shown below. You may choose the option of an etching of a ship of your choice, or your own boat (sail or power)on one side - Just email or snailmail us a picture. Even add a hand scrimshawed picture of an animal. Our wonderful Ivories have been reclaimed from the ground after sharing the earth for up to 30 millennia!
