 This is a guaranteed real Sperm Whale tooth that is registered with the Department of Commerce as number 21-0231-0011. It weighs 100 grams.
This classically shaped tooth is 4 1/2 inches long, and 1 1/2 inches wide at the base. Carefully etched on the front surface in a light color wash is a light-haired, long legged, lanky nude leaning against the bulwarks of an old wooden ship. (Just click on the picture for a larger view.)She is done in a combination of stippled and line techniques.This collector's tooth is set on a hand-turned zebrawood wood stand with beautiful grain. The tooth on its stand is 6 inches high. This Sperm Whale's tooth signed by M.M. Cohen is polished on one side so that the viewer can feel the back side and appreciate what the tooth surface was like in its natural state.
